How refunds, disputes, and flexible-funding expectations are handled.

Flexible-Funding Pledges
Campaign pledges are charged when checkout is completed. Missing a campaign goal does not automatically create a refund right because Mercureon campaigns use flexible funding in the MVP.
Refund requests should be reviewed based on payment status, campaign status, researcher conduct, reward commitments, applicable policy, and payment provider limitations.
Membership Subscriptions
Memberships renew monthly until canceled. Canceling a membership generally stops future renewal and does not automatically refund prior paid periods.
Supporters can use the billing portal where available to manage subscriptions, payment methods, invoices, and cancellation.
Disputes And Chargebacks
Stripe disputes and chargebacks may affect payment records, pledge status, ledger entries, researcher payouts, and supporter access.
Mercureon treats payment provider events as authoritative for payment completion, refund, and dispute state. Admin payment support should check internal records and Stripe before making support commitments.
Manual Review
Mercureon may issue, deny, or partially issue refunds where appropriate, subject to Stripe capabilities, platform policy, researcher payout status, and legal or operational constraints.
This draft policy should be reviewed before public launch so refund rights, time windows, exceptions, and support procedures are explicit.
