Campaign Rules
Rules for reviewed flexible-funding research campaigns.
Last updated May 14, 2026
Review Before Launch
Every campaign must be submitted for Mercureon review before launch. Only live campaigns can accept pledges.
Review focuses on platform policy, clarity, supporter trust, payment risk, prohibited content, and required disclosures. It is not a substitute for scientific peer review, ethics board review, legal review, or regulatory approval.
Required Campaign Information
Campaigns should describe the research question, researcher background, funding goal, intended use of funds, expected timeline, risks, limitations, uncertainty, planned outputs, and reward tiers where applicable.
Campaigns must not hide material limitations, overstate likely outcomes, misrepresent credentials, imply institutional backing that does not exist, or present speculative work as settled science.
Flexible Funding
Mercureon campaign pledges are charged when supporters complete checkout. Campaigns are not all-or-nothing in the MVP.
A campaign goal is a funding target and progress signal, not an automatic condition for charging supporters or releasing funds.
Researchers should explain how funds will be used if the campaign raises less or more than the stated goal.
Review Outcomes
Mercureon may approve a campaign, request changes, reject a campaign, pause a live campaign, or require additional information.
Researchers cannot approve their own campaigns, and platform administrators should preserve review and pause history for support and audit purposes.
